Email is like a boomerang, it constantly sends traffic back to you.<\/p>\n

If anyone tells you it’s “dead<\/strong>“, Immediately run the other direction. 20% of the traffic to this site comes from email. 2% comes from Twitter.<\/p>\n

That doesn’t mean you should dump Twitter, just keep it in perspective. If you only have 5 hours to work today. Don’t spend 4.5 on Twitter.<\/p>\n

Here’s the deal though, as great as email is you have to use it correctly.<\/p>\n

MyCrowd.com<\/a> is a new service that just launched. They are like Elance<\/a> or Odesk<\/a> only slightly more integrated with existing applications.<\/p>\n

As soon as I saw they were opened for business I posted a task to check them out.<\/p>\n

30 minutes later I got this email<\/strong><\/p>\n

Can you spot the problem?<\/p>\n

They didn’t give me a way to ACT<\/strong> on the email.<\/p>\n

There is no button, no link…no way to do anything.<\/p>\n

The point of the email was to alert me that someone had placed a bid but the email gave me no way to do anything about it.<\/p>\n

I had to:<\/p>\n

  1. Open a tab<\/li>\n
  2. Type in their address<\/li>\n
  3. Log-in<\/li>\n
  4. Remember my login credentials<\/li>\n
  5. Reset my login credentials<\/li>\n
  6. Figure out how to get back to the task<\/li>\n
  7. …ugh<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Don’t make this same mistake.<\/strong><\/p>\n

    If you are trying to sell something, make it easy<\/em> for people to give you money.<\/p>\n

    Groupon does a good job of that:<\/p>\n

    If you are trying to get people to reply to an email and give you feedback. Ask them.<\/p>\n
