I&#8217;m going to walk you through each of them and show you how\u00a0to do it yourself.<\/p>\n<p>You don&#8217;t need an existing email list or traffic. You can do this with nothing more than a landing page and <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.growthtools.com\/blog\/arrange\/\">good writing<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Follow along and copy my framework.<\/p>\n<h2>Step 1: Use the phrase &#8220;For Example&#8221;<\/h2>\n<p>Your first task in writing an EGP is to write an incredible &#8220;How To&#8221; article.. I&#8217;m talking &#8220;<em>This is the most in depth article I&#8217;ve ever read on this topic!<\/em>&#8221; kind of good.<\/p>\n<p>Anyone can spew out a 500 word blog post entitled &#8220;5\u00a0Ways To Share Your Blog Posts On Facebook&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>You have to be different.<\/p>\n<p><strong>You need to shock and awe your readers.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The best way I&#8217;ve found to do that is going deeper than everyone else. Don&#8217;t preach to them and don&#8217;t pontificate on a subject.<\/p>\n<p>Teach an actionable skill.<\/p>\n<h2>Step 2: Create expectation and climax<\/h2>\n<p>Stop thinking of your guest blog post as a singular event and start thinking of it\u00a0like\u00a0the pilot episode\u00a0of an 8 season TV show.<\/p>\n<p>Your job is to hook the reader where they have no choice but to watch the next episode.<\/p>\n<p>Have you ever thought about what makes us binge\u00a0watch\u00a0on Netflix?<\/p>\n<p>My wife and I are in the middle of a 3 week long Dexter marathon. The weird thing is it&#8217;s not THAT great of a show.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s solid but I&#8217;d give it a B-.<\/p>\n<p>So why have we spent an insane amount of hours watching it? Because of expectation and climax.<\/p>\n<p>We HAVE to watch the next episode to see if Dexter actually kills Miguel Prado!<\/p>\n<p>Surely he won&#8217;t kill his best friend&#8230;right!?<\/p>\n<p>&lt;click&#8230;watch next episode&gt;<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 500px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.tvequals.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/10\/dexter_306_0076.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><noscript><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tvequals.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/10\/dexter_306_0076.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/noscript><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Dexter vs. Miguel<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>They\u00a0suck you in and next thing you know you&#8217;ve spent 8 hours watching\u00a0a TV show you don&#8217;t even like.<\/p>\n<p>The writers of Dexter know this and they engineer each season\u00a0to lead\u00a0your from one episode to the next.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s a work of art.<\/p>\n<p>Your blog post needs to be built the exact same way.<\/p>\n<p>For example&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>(see I&#8217;m doing it again)<\/p>\n<p>In the same guest post\u00a0mentioned before I did this by making reference to an incentive at the end of the post.<\/p>\n<p>But I didn&#8217;t wait until the very end to tell them about it, I inserted it 1\/3 of the way through the post. Be sure to [content_upgrade id=&#8221;8&#8243;]check it out[\/content_upgrade]at the end of the post.)<\/p>\n<h2>Step 3: Provide a content upgrade<\/h2>\n<p>Up to this point you have:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Shock and awe&#8217;d with a detailed\u00a0article<\/li>\n<li>Engineered the article to build expectation<\/li>\n<li>Built up a climax that ends in the last paragraph<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Now, it&#8217;s time to capitalize on all of that and extend the conversation to your blog.<\/p>\n<p>We need to give the reader an opportunity to press the \u00a0&#8220;NEXT EPISODE&#8221; button.<\/p>\n<p>How can you do that?<\/p>\n<p>Like this&#8230;<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 679px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" data-src=\"https:\/\/blog.growthtools.com\/Skitch\/5_Steps_to_Quit_Your_Job_in_the_next_12_months_-_Jon_Acuff_199D46A2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"679\" height=\"604\" \/><noscript><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.growthtools.com\/Skitch\/5_Steps_to_Quit_Your_Job_in_the_next_12_months_-_Jon_Acuff_199D46A2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"679\" height=\"604\" \/><\/noscript><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Excerpt from <a href=\"https:\/\/acuff.me\/2014\/08\/quit-your-job\/\" target=\"_blank\">Guest Post<\/a> on Acuff.me<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>First,<\/strong> you tie up the central theme\u00a0of the blog post.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Second,<\/strong> you transition from the central theme to the content upgrade.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Third,<\/strong>\u00a0you introduce the content upgrade.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lastly<\/strong>, provide a clear call to action.<\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;ve built expectation throughout the post, this should feel completely natural. This shouldn&#8217;t feel forced or fake at all.<\/p>\n<p>Your call to action should be a natural extension of the guest post itself.<\/p>\n<p>Think about the experience of watching a show on Netflix. In the month of July they received 190,000 page views\u00a0and are ranked the 114,287th most popular site in the United States.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" data-src=\"https:\/\/blog.growthtools.com\/Skitch\/Untitled_2_key_199E501C.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"731\" height=\"499\" \/><noscript><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.growthtools.com\/Skitch\/Untitled_2_key_199E501C.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"731\" height=\"499\" \/><\/noscript><\/p>\n<p>It seems pretty obvious which site SHOULD have sent him more subscribers&#8230;right?<\/p>\n<p>Convince and Convert has 10x the traffic.
