Teaching you how to grow your list.<\/p>\n<p>Lists are fun. I have to say no to a lot of cool ideas I have. So, in 2016 <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.growthtools.com\/blog\/year-in-review-2015\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">one of my primary goals<\/a> is to spend more time creating cool crap.<\/p>\n<p>Not with the intent to sell it.<\/p>\n<p>Not with the intent to do a huge product launch.<\/p>\n<p>But just create stuff for\u00a0the sake of creating it. Cool ideas that I&#8217;ve been stuffing away in an Evernote folder labeled &#8220;Make this one day.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>So, every month this year I&#8217;m going to block out one day to make something cool. Turn one of my weird ideas into an actual product.<\/p>\n<p>Today I&#8217;m going to put on my Jeff Goins hat and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/goinswriter.com\/tips-writing-book\/\">write a book<\/a> in 24 hours.<\/p>\n<p>Maybe people will buy it. Maybe they won&#8217;t. But I&#8217;ve still been attracted to the idea.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve just been a little conflicted about how to pull it off without it coming across weird.<\/p>\n<p>But for today&#8217;s 24-hour product build I decided to dip my toe back into the waters. I talked to my buddy John Lee Dumas and he agreed to sponsor today&#8217;s 24-hour challenge.<\/p>\n<p>Today is the last day of the Kickstarter campaign for his new product, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kickstarter.com\/projects\/eofire\/the-freedom-journal-accomplish-your-1-goal-in-100\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Freedom Journal<\/a>. Just like today&#8217;s product build, the Freedom Journal is a &#8220;passion project&#8221; (hate that phrase but whatev) of John&#8217;s.<\/p>\n<p>If you actually want to accomplish your goals in 2016, you need a framework. The Freedom Journal is that framework.<\/p>\n<p>Go get a copy.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Note<\/strong>: John&#8217;s also suppppppper close to the all-time Kickstarter (publishing) record. You pay $10 or $20 or something and get one new cool strategy per day (that&#8217;s not the focus of today though).<\/p>\n<h2><a name=\"11am\"><\/a>11:00am Update:<\/h2>\n<p><em>Goals for the 9 AM \u2013 11 AM time frame:<\/em><\/p>\n<p>1. Get all of 30 of the strategies listed out (and source docs together for them).<\/p>\n<p>2.\u00a0Write 5 of the Shorts.<\/p>\n<p>3. Blog posts, podcasts, courses etc. I just don\u2019t have enough time. (lots of YAYAYAYAY for finishing in 10 hours)<\/p>\n<h2><a name=\"10pm\"><\/a>10 PM Update:<\/h2>\n<p><em>Goals for the 5 PM &#8211; 10 PM timeframe:<\/em><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Send out a private open cart email to those who signed up for the pre-order list<\/li>\n<li>Eat food (been slim pickings today)<\/li>\n<li>Go visit a friend who just had a kid<\/li>\n<li>Come back home<\/li>\n<li>Talk to my wife (not much of that today either)<\/li>\n<li>Netflix and chill? (boy can dream)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Here is what we actually got done:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I ate food for the first-ish time today. It was good. Leftovers, but solid.<\/p>\n<p>I tweaked a few things, added the buy links to this blog post and mostly just chilled while watching an episode of <em>Blacklist<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sales Update:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We&#8217;ve had 20 total sales so far.<\/li>\n<li>7 people have bought the Ultimate Package.<\/li>\n<li>13 people have bought the Basic Package.<\/li>\n<li>0 people have bought the Bulk deals (interesting).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>re: Bulk deals &#8211; I probably should adjust these based on the initial (lack of) results to a one-click upsell post-purchase, but I dunno. I&#8217;m tired and the point of this isn&#8217;t money.<\/p>\n<p>So we&#8217;ll see.<\/p>\n<p>The primary goal now is to HAVE FUN.\u00a0Which has 100% been accomplished.<\/p>\n<p>Tomorrow morning I think I&#8217;ll get up super early to record the audio version of the book (gotta have it done by 7am CST).<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m also working with a few designers to get the Gdoc prettied up into a nice polished PDF as well as getting a proper landing\u00a0page designed and implemented. Neither of those are essential. More &#8220;nice to haves&#8221; than &#8220;must haves.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h2><a name=\"7am\"><\/a>7 AM Update:<\/h2>\n<p><em>Goals for the 10 PM &#8211; 7 AM time frame:<\/em><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><em>Sleep<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Wake up and start recording audio around 5am-ish<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Here is what we accomplished overnight:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>First, I woke up at 4 AM and recorded and edited the audio version of the Shorts.<\/p>\n<p>I just exported and uploaded it a few minutes ago.<\/p>\n<p>Watch the countdown to completion here:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/KQlWXnYh0tc?rel=0\" width=\"420\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>I also enlisted the help of a few designers to work up landing page and nicely designed PDF of the book itself. Unfortunately neither of those were completed within 24 hours.<\/p>\n<p>No biggie though. You won&#8217;t be able to tomorrow (info on that below)<\/del><\/p>\n<p>&#8230;<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><a name=\"final\"><\/a>Final Numbers and Recap<\/h2>\n<p>We&#8217;re a few days removed from the 24-hour Product Challenge now, so let&#8217;s do a quick recap of the event.<\/p>\n<p><strong>First off<\/strong>, sales numbers:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" data-src=\"https:\/\/blog.growthtools.com\/Skitch\/Graphly_1C6BFC48.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1261\" height=\"752\" \/><noscript><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.growthtools.com\/Skitch\/Graphly_1C6BFC48.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1261\" height=\"752\" \/><\/noscript><\/p>\n<p>TL;DR: We sold $6,250 dollars worth of The Short.<\/p>\n<p>Package breakdown:<\/p>\n<p>Basic ($25): 123<\/p>\n<p>Ultimate ($50): 34<\/p>\n<p>VIP ($125): 14<\/p>\n<p><strong>Second<\/strong>, adding in the VIP package was clutch.<\/p>\n<p>We initially offered the $25 and $50 package and then offered bulk purchase options.<\/p>\n<p>But after 12 hours only two people had bought the bulk purchase option.\u00a0So, we removed those and added in a $125 option that included several cool bonuses (that we had made previously).<\/p>\n<p>This worked REALLY well.<\/p>\n<p>In the first 3 hours after introducing the $125 option, we had 5 sales.<\/p>\n<p>Boom!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Third<\/strong>, this was A WHOLE LOT of fun!<\/p>\n<p>So much so that in a few weeks, I&#8217;m going to fly the entire Videofruit team into town to do another one!<\/p>\n<p>YAYAYAY!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Four<\/strong>, how can I buy The Short.<\/p>\n<p>The Short was a one time deal. Just like all of our 24-hour product builds will be this year.<\/p>\n<p>So, keep your head up for the next challenge. We could potentially offer a purchase option of the next product we build and bundle in The Short (or maybe not).<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s still undecided.<\/p>\n<p>They key is this though, if you want something take action.
