You pick a topic for the summit.<\/p>\n<p>2. You invite a handful of people to speak at the\u00a0summit.<\/p>\n<p>3. You interview each speaker ahead of time.<\/p>\n<p>4. You ask\u00a0each speaker to promote the event.<\/p>\n<p>5. 20-40% of the speakers agree to promote it.<\/p>\n<p>6. You release the interviews with each speaker over a 10-day period.<\/p>\n<p>7. Each speaker sends new subscribers and customers to your list when they promote it.<\/p>\n<p>8. You want your summit to attract your ideal customers, right? So your task is to find out what they would be interested in learning about.<\/p>\n<p>Here are a few questions you can answer in order to choose\u00a0your topic:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>What are your current subscribers\/ followers interested in?\u2028<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>What are your most popular blog posts? \u2028<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>What do your subscribers want to learn more about?\u2028<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>What are the top blog posts by the influencers in your niche? \u00a0\u2028<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>What is the ONE piece of knowledge you want your summit attendees to walk away with?\u2028<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>As you start planning your virtual summit theme, keep in mind the types of topics that would be covered by the summit&#8217;s speakers.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s best to keep your summit&#8217;s topic relatively broad, so your speakers can deep dive into specific niches within that topic.<\/p>\n<p>Chandler chose to make his summit focused on his This way, the potential speaker can know the type of information you will be asking them for during their call.<\/p>\n<p>Here are 8 questions you can use as a starting point:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>1. In Chandler\u2019s case, he reached out to individuals with lists larger than his own to send leads to his summit. He enticed the affiliates with a contest with big prizes in agreement for their promotion.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Action Item #1: Decide on your prizes.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Your budget will obviously determine your prizes. If you do the work ahead of time, you may even be able to find sponsors for your prizes. It\u2019s easiest to include these all in a Google document and send them out to affiliates to use as templates.<\/p>\n<p>Since your affiliates are going to have three months to promote your summit, we recommend providing at least 10 emails that they can send out to their audiences about your summit launch.<\/p>\n<p>As you create custom social media images, banners, and other promotional tools for your summit, you can send these along to your affiliates as well.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Action Item #4: Reach out to potential affiliates.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>It\u2019s time to reach out to your potential affiliates!<\/p>\n<p>Who makes a good affiliate?<\/p>\n<p>Anyone with a list size similar to or bigger than your own!<\/p>\n<p>Think about who will actually mail the information out to a significant part of their list and who will send high-quality leads your way that will convert into paying customers.<\/p>\n<p>Many of your affiliates may also end up being your speakers, and that\u2019s ok. You can reach out to them at the same time about becoming a speaker and becoming an affiliate for the summit.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Action Item #5: Organize your contest.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Lastly, you\u2019ll want to make sure that your affiliate contest is set up through an affiliate management tool.<\/p>\n<p>Chandler used Infusionsoft. (You can use <a href=\"https:\/\/samcart.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">SamCart<\/a>). The process included creating the contact in Infusionsoft, signing them up as an affiliate and sending them their unique affiliate link (all created by Infusionsoft). Once an affiliate signs up, you will send them their unique log-in information to the portal to track their affiliate sales.<\/p>\n<p>A few last tips if you choose to run an affiliate contest for your summit:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\u2022 Have a leaderboard update that goes out daily to all affiliates so they can see how they are ranking against other affiliates.<br \/>\n\u2022 Personally reach out to all top affiliate performers.<br \/>\n\u2022 Take care of your affiliates. If you are able to jump on a Skype or phone call with the person, do that. You also want to make sure to cover certain topics during your chat. Here\u2019s a list of what you should cover:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\u2022 Add a personal note or greeting. That means you\u2019ll need to follow up with those speakers who don\u2019t respond to your initial outreach. Try reaching out every 5 business days until you get a response.<\/p>\n<p>Make sure you are keeping track of all the interviews that get scheduled and that you have them in your own calendar as well.<\/p>\n<p><strong>If they say no to an interview:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Like I mentioned earlier, you will likely have to reach out to 100+ people if you want to get 30+ speakers for your event. Email these questions to the speaker.<br \/>\n\u2022 Set up calendar reminders for the interview to be sent out three days before <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">and<\/span> the morning of the interview.<br \/>\n\u2022 Ask if there is there anyone else they know of who would be interested in this opportunity.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\">Step #2 Record your interviews.<\/h2>\n<h3><strong>Action Item #1: Record your interviews.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Once you start booking your speakers, you\u2019ll need to make sure that you are on track to record your interviews and get them ready for your summit.<\/p>\n<p>The day of your interview with each speaker, make sure to do the following:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\u2022 Test audio and video quality before getting on the call.<br \/>\n\u2022 Chat with the speaker for a couple of minutes before starting the interview.<br \/>\n\u2022 Triple-check that the call is being recorded.<br \/>\n\u2022 Conduct the interview and then thank the speaker for their time.<br \/>\n\u2022 Tell them what their next steps are \/ how they can promote the summit.<br \/>\n\u2022 Check off in your spreadsheet that you have interviewed them.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Action Item #2: Record your keynote speech.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The keynote speech is the last interview of the summit. It&#8217;s your closing speech where you will recap highlights of the summit, teach on the primary topic of the summit, and then promote\u00a0your primary product at the end.<\/p>\n<p>Once you are in full-on summit mode, it\u2019s going to be a bit crazy to plan your own keynote speech, so it&#8217;s a good idea to get this done ahead of time.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\">Step #3: Create graphics, banners, and promotional tools.<\/h2>\n<h3><strong>Action Item #1: Create graphics and banners.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The sooner you are able to start creating graphics to promote your summit, the better.<\/p>\n<p>These graphics will be used on your website, sent to your speakers and affiliates, used on social media, and used in paid advertising for your virtual summit.<\/p>\n<p>Your graphics should include:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\u2022 Top or big-name speakers<br \/>\n\u2022 The summit&#8217;s name<br \/>\n\u2022 The summit&#8217;s theme (i.e, What will attendees walk away with?)<br \/>\n\u2022 A call-to-action (e.g., &#8220;Get Your Free Ticket Now!&#8221;)<\/p>\n<p>If you have never created graphics before, you might want to hire a designer to take care of this for you.<\/p>\n<p>You can hire someone off <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fiverr.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Fiverr<\/a>\u00a0(low-end) to help. noreferrer\">LeadPages<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What should your landing page include?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\u2022 Summit&#8217;s name and dates<br \/>\n\u2022 Summit&#8217;s theme (what attendees will walk away with)<br \/>\n\u2022 Top speakers<br \/>\n\u2022 Video explaining the summit<br \/>\n\u2022 Compelling Images that show off what the attendee will learn<br \/>\n\u2022 FAQs<br \/>\n\u2022 A sign-up form integrated with your email service provider<\/p>\n<p>This is the FIRST page that you will want to create. It\u2019s best to create it as soon as you are able to, and then make changes if needed. The sooner you have a landing page, the sooner you can get people to sign up for your summit.<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t wait until you have every speaker booked and a perfect page created. Mainly, Facebook ads.<\/p>\n<p>You will want to complete this step <em>at least<\/em> one month before your summit starts.<\/p>\n<p>While we won\u2019t exhaust all the the details of running paid advertising (if you are completely new to running Facebook ads, hiring help may be worth it), here are some of the basics:<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Action Item #1: Choose your ad campaign&#8217;s objective.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>When you first start your Facebook ad campaign, you\u2019ll be prompted to choose an objective for your ad. The choice is up to you and what you can afford. You are going to be keeping track of your ad and making sure it is converting well as you go along, so it might be good to start with a smaller budget and then raise it as the ad does well.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Action Item #3: Write your ad.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>As you write your ad, remember your target audience. What is the end result that your attendees will get when joining the summit? Include that in your advertising.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Action Item #4: Choose an image.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>At this point, you already should have a few graphics created for your Facebook ad. Facebook allows you to test multiple pictures for your ad, which we highly recommend doing. Testing multiple versions of your text and images is one of the best things you can do to improve your ad&#8217;s effectiveness.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Action Item #5: Choose ad placement.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>When placing your ad, you\u2019ll have three choices for where it will appear: the News Feed, via Mobile, or on the right column. We recommend testing out each of these three and then, after a few days, removing the placement that isn\u2019t working well. Also, remember to make sure your landing page is extremely mobile-friendly when you choose the mobile option.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Action Item #6: Choose ad targeting.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Ad targeting may be the single most important part of your Facebook ad. This is how you determine who will actually see your ad.<\/p>\n<p>If you already have a large email subscriber list, you may want to choose the \u201cCustom Audience\u201d target. You\u2019ll be able to upload your list, and even create a lookalike audience based on your list&#8217;s key features.<\/p>\n<p>If you don\u2019t have an existing list, the best way to target your audience is through interests. You can specifically target people who are interested in a certain topic. We recommend choosing an individual or company who is an influencer in your niche. Update your landing page accordingly.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Action Item #2: Create a sales page with an order form.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><em>What it is<\/em>: Your sales page is the page for the product you&#8217;ve decided to pitch at your summit&#8217;s end. An individual page for an individual speaker is a very simple page, and the primary goal is for people to have an easy place to watch the interview. We suggest creating a simple page in WordPress for these inner pages.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Action Item #4: Create your presentations page.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><em>What it is:<\/em> This page is where you can hold the currently available interviews for viewing.
