Even though we cleared that with the first tweet (26 \u201cyes\u201d replies), I plugged it again the next day:<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c1\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" data-src=\"https:\/\/lh5.googleusercontent.com\/xzg2wsfE9hvLBBXssz0fPrWRhkaQ6yvLxZRSYnvMBBMJX-Lg9FlTgSmmpw6UNSc-sElrt9fUd-PziFFmjchCDje8FgLd26Cl7ryARhxm6D9VYBCME80gOF8W13Xe7WvkzOnSiFqd\" alt=\"\" \/><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/lh5.googleusercontent.com\/xzg2wsfE9hvLBBXssz0fPrWRhkaQ6yvLxZRSYnvMBBMJX-Lg9FlTgSmmpw6UNSc-sElrt9fUd-PziFFmjchCDje8FgLd26Cl7ryARhxm6D9VYBCME80gOF8W13Xe7WvkzOnSiFqd\" alt=\"\" \/><\/noscript><\/p>\n<p class=\"c1\"><span class=\"c2\">The second tweet brought in 19 more interested people.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c1\"><span class=\"c2\">That\u2019s 45 people (more than 2x the original goal) who have given me permission to sell them a product that doesn\u2019t exist yet.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c1\"><span class=\"c2\">Obviously, not all of them will end up buying, but the upside is\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n<ol class=\"c4 lst-kix_f2a9m7waworn-0 start\" start=\"1\">\n<li class=\"c0\">I have confirmation that\u00a0<em><span class=\"c7\">something<\/span><\/em><span class=\"c2\">\u00a0about the product idea resonates with people<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol class=\"c4 lst-kix_f2a9m7waworn-0\" start=\"2\">\n<li class=\"c0\"><span class=\"c2\">When I follow up with each person, I can ask them for feedback on a more fleshed out description of the product<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol class=\"c4 lst-kix_f2a9m7waworn-0\" start=\"3\">\n<li class=\"c0\"><span class=\"c2\">That feedback can be used to improve the product before anyone ever experiences it<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol class=\"c4 lst-kix_f2a9m7waworn-0\" start=\"4\">\n<li class=\"c0\"><span class=\"c2\">Unless the pricing is way off, a decent percentage will purchase the product, allowing us to fund it before investing resources into development<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p class=\"c1\"><span class=\"c2\">This is a playbook any business can run to test an idea before putting a bunch of time and energy into bringing it to life.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c12\"><strong><span class=\"c5\">\ud83d\ude25\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"c5 c7\"><em>\u201cBut Bryan, what if I don\u2019t have 10k Twitter followers to bounce ideas off of?\u201d<\/em> \u00a0<\/span><span class=\"c5\">\ud83d\ude25<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"c1\"><span class=\"c2\">The good news is you don\u2019t need them!<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c1\"><span class=\"c2\">In fact, you don\u2019t need Twitter at all.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c1\"><span class=\"c2\">This idea was so spur-of-the-moment, Twitter just happened to be the first place I fired it off. I usually run validation campaigns via email:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"c4 lst-kix_efxgkzkkr8ug-0\">\n<li class=\"c0\"><span class=\"c2\">Select a segment of our most engaged email subscribers (based on opens\/clicks)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"c4 lst-kix_efxgkzkkr8ug-0\">\n<li class=\"c0\">Send them our 5-part Product Validation email campaign (you can\u00a0<span class=\"c8\"><a class=\"c6\" href=\"https:\/\/dripscripts.growthtools.com\/seq\/product-validation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">swipe the whole thing here<\/a><\/span><span class=\"c2\">)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"c4 lst-kix_efxgkzkkr8ug-0\">\n<li class=\"c0\"><span class=\"c2\">Gather feedback (you can do this with a simple Google form\u2014you\u2019ll see how it works in the sequence linked above)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"c4 lst-kix_efxgkzkkr8ug-0\">\n<li class=\"c0\"><span class=\"c2\">Send a link to purchase to everyone who submits feedback<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"c1\"><span class=\"c2\">I\u2019ve seen people with fewer than 1,000 email subscribers pull off 4-figure validation campaigns. It works!<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c1\"><span class=\"c2\">And even when it doesn\u2019t \u201cwork,\u201d you still save yourself from building a product your list doesn\u2019t want.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c1\"><span class=\"c2\">A few tips:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"c4 lst-kix_wesfcrhvswrx-0\">\n<li class=\"c0\"><strong><span class=\"c5\">Don\u2019t try to automate your validation campaign<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"c2\"> \u2014 When you look at our validation sequence, you\u2019ll notice it\u2019s not the kind of thing you can just run on autopilot. It relies on replies, manual follow-ups, and hand-to-hand combat. That\u2019s part of what makes it so effective. You want the experience to feel personal. You want your potential customers to feel like they\u2019re co-creating something with you.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"c4 lst-kix_wesfcrhvswrx-0\">\n<li class=\"c0\"><strong><span class=\"c5\">Have multiple follow-ups at every stage of your validation campaign<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"c2\">\u00a0\u2014 If I had stopped after the first tweet, my pool of potential buyers would have been 43% smaller (25 vs. 45). Always follow up!<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"c4 lst-kix_wesfcrhvswrx-0\">\n<li class=\"c0\"><strong><span class=\"c5\">Have a limited number of available spots<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"c2\">\u00a0\u2014 Communicate early and often that you\u2019re looking for a specific number of people to be part of a special \u201cpre-launch\u201d group (you can use whatever phrasing you like here). Exclusivity will increase the response you get.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"c1\"><span class=\"c2\">What idea could you validate this week if you started taking action today?<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I love validating products.
