At $4.99 each. It does this by showing them ads from other similar companies. It\u2019s a giant swipe file.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c2\"><strong><span class=\"c3\">2. It focuses on 1 very specific type of person<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"c2\"><span class=\"c1\">The best fit client of this product is direct to consumer companies. Think Shopify store owners who don\u2019t rely on Amazon or wholesale for distribution. They do all the heavy lifting themselves. Thus, they run their own ads and have in-house marketing teams.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c2\"><strong><span class=\"c3\">3. It keeps the deliverable simple and predictable<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"c2\"><span class=\"c1\">Every day there are 10-20 new ads posted. Nothing else. No FB lives. No other types of posts. SUPER simple. And predictable. You know exactly what you are going to get every day. Easy to consume and easy to produce.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c2\"><strong><span class=\"c3\">4. It\u2019s a no-brainer impulsive purchase that\u2019s silly to cancel<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"c2\"><span class=\"c1\">I\u2019m generally not a fan of cheap products. But this one is amazing. It\u2019s $4.99. It\u2019s a no brainer. And cancelling seems inconsequential since the price is so low. Seeing 300 curated ad ideas every month has an easy 10x return on investment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c2\"><span class=\"c1\">\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h.wftg6ahnture\" class=\"c6\">So, what is the best way to start and grow a paid FB group like this?<\/h2>\n<p class=\"c3\"><span class=\"c0\">The first 2 approaches that came to mind are:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong><span class=\"c13\">Build an email list<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0around the broader topic associated with the paid FB group you want to start. Use the list to launch and feed the FB group.\u00a0<span class=\"c4\"><a class=\"c10\" href=\"https:\/\/blog.growthtools.com\/blog\/how-to-build-an-email-list\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">We have many strategies to help you with this.<\/a><\/span><span class=\"c0\">\u00a0\ud83d\ude42<br \/>\n<\/span><span class=\"c0\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong><span class=\"c13\">Start the FB group for free.<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"c0\">\u00a0Get members in the door. Make the experience awesome. Do everything you can to drive high-quality engagement. Then either spin off a paid version or just switch the whole thing to paid so you can dedicate more time to making it even better.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p class=\"c3\"><span class=\"c0\">Thanks to one of our coaching clients, we learned that the Facebook Ad Creatives Only group went with approach #2.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c3\"><span class=\"c0\">It started out free, they built up the member base, and then switched to paid.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c3\"><span class=\"c0\">But obviously you can\u2019t just start a FB group and expect people to join because it\u2019s free. There are millions of them!<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c3\"><span class=\"c0\">You still need a plan to attract attention and build engagement.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c3\"><span class=\"c0\">If I were going to use approach #2, here is how I would do it.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"c3\"><span class=\"c7\">Phase #1: Get your first 300 members<\/span><\/h2>\n<p class=\"c3\"><em><strong><span class=\"c11\">Time: ~7 days<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<ul class=\"c1 lst-kix_t0x4vml4zegm-0\">\n<li class=\"c2\"><span class=\"c0\">Draft up your first 10 posts for the FB group idea you have.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"c1 lst-kix_t0x4vml4zegm-0\">\n<li class=\"c2\"><span class=\"c0\">Use the process of creating those 10 posts as a litmus test to make sure you feel good about the concept.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"c1 lst-kix_t0x4vml4zegm-0\">\n<li class=\"c2\"><span class=\"c0\">Invite everyone you know to join with a 1:1 message.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"c1 lst-kix_t0x4vml4zegm-0\">\n<li class=\"c2\"><span class=\"c0\">DON\u2019T use the default mass invite method Facebook offers to make it easier. Pull up your friends list and send a unique DM to all of them.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"c1 lst-kix_t0x4vml4zegm-0\">\n<li class=\"c2\"><span class=\"c0\">Don\u2019t skip people you think might not be interested in your topic. Even if they\u2019re not interested, they might have a friend they know would love it. Or they might be interested in joining just to follow your journey. You can even use that line when you reach out (see below).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"c1 lst-kix_t0x4vml4zegm-0\">\n<li class=\"c2\">Here\u2019s a simple script you can tweak for each person you invite:\u00a0<em><span class=\"c8\">\u201cHey FIRSTNAME, I\u2019m starting a Facebook group where I talk about TOPIC. Thought you might enjoy following along on my journey. Want in?\u201d<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"c1 lst-kix_t0x4vml4zegm-0\">\n<li class=\"c2\"><span class=\"c0\">Look beyond Facebook. It won\u2019t cover your entire network. Go through the contacts on your phone, in your email, LinkedIn, Twitter, etc. and continue with the 1:1 invite method using whatever channel makes the most sense for each person.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"c1 lst-kix_t0x4vml4zegm-0\">\n<li class=\"c2\"><span class=\"c0\">Send everyone who says \u201cyes\u201d the link to join the group.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"c1 lst-kix_t0x4vml4zegm-0\">\n<li class=\"c2\"><span class=\"c0\">Start posting.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"c1 lst-kix_t0x4vml4zegm-0\">\n<li class=\"c2\"><span class=\"c0\">Encourage members to invite their friends to join.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"c3\"><span class=\"c0\">This is your path to a minimum viable audience for the group. Where are people interested in that stuff already hanging out? Who do they follow? Where are they subscribed?<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"c1 lst-kix_w6ijgjmob49y-0\">\n<li class=\"c2\"><span class=\"c0\">Interact in every watering hole you find daily. Contribute to the conversation.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"c1 lst-kix_w6ijgjmob49y-0\">\n<li class=\"c2\"><span class=\"c0\">Find the owner\u2019s email address.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"c1 lst-kix_w6ijgjmob49y-0\">\n<li class=\"c2\"><span class=\"c0\">Reach out. Tell them about your FB group. Befriend them. Don\u2019t act like a weirdo.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"c1 lst-kix_w6ijgjmob49y-0\">\n<li class=\"c2\"><span class=\"c0\">Partner with them on content for their audience: guest post, FB live, AMA, etc.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"c1 lst-kix_w6ijgjmob49y-0\">\n<li class=\"c2\"><span class=\"c0\">Tie your FB group into the content. Invite everyone who sees\/reads\/listens to it to join. Tell them you just shared a bundle of resources they\u2019ll be interested in with the group.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"c1 lst-kix_w6ijgjmob49y-0\">\n<li class=\"c2\"><span class=\"c0\">Repeat. Repeat. Repeat.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"c1 lst-kix_w6ijgjmob49y-0\">\n<li class=\"c2\"><span class=\"c0\">Over time, you\u2019ll notice which watering holes give you the best response. Focus your energy on them.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"c1 lst-kix_w6ijgjmob49y-0\">\n<li class=\"c2\"><span class=\"c0\">Meanwhile, keep up your posting in your own FB group. Activity and engagement need to be high. Don\u2019t let off the gas.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"c1 lst-kix_oq8rizd035kg-0\">\n<li class=\"c2\"><span class=\"c0\">Pursue deeper partnerships with top groups from Phase #2 (ongoing series, monthly workshops, etc.).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"c1 lst-kix_oq8rizd035kg-0\">\n<li class=\"c2\"><span class=\"c0\">Run a giveaway for your members 4x per year. Incentivize sharing and promoting the group.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"c1 lst-kix_oq8rizd035kg-0\">\n<li class=\"c2\"><span class=\"c0\">Look for organic opportunities to feature influencers in your niche in the group. Send traffic their way. Reach out and show them how your community is responding. Develop relationships.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"c1 lst-kix_oq8rizd035kg-0\">\n<li class=\"c2\"><span class=\"c0\">Listen to your audience and find out what they like and what they want more of. Double down on those kinds of posts when you decide to go premium.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"c1 lst-kix_oq8rizd035kg-0\">\n<li class=\"c2\"><span class=\"c0\">When you\u2019re ready to go paid, communicate what this will allow you to accomplish to your members.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"c1 lst-kix_oq8rizd035kg-0\">\n<li class=\"c2\"><span class=\"c0\">Show them how you\u2019re going to make the community even more awesome and valuable by charging.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"c3\"><span class=\"c0\">This process is super similar to growing an email list, but you get the added benefit of Facebook\u2019s network effects.
