{"id":8053,"date":"2020-09-29T16:40:55","date_gmt":"2020-09-29T16:40:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.growthtools.com\/?p=8053"},"modified":"2021-02-04T16:59:24","modified_gmt":"2021-02-04T16:59:24","slug":"client-week-david-martin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.growthtools.com\/?p=8053","title":{"rendered":"Client of the Week: David Martin"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c3\"><span class=\"c1\">Ballpark something for me real quick&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c3\"><span class=\"c1\">If you had to guess how long it would take to launch a new flagship product for your audience, what would you say?<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c3\">To clarify, when I say \u201cflagship product,\u201d I\u2019m talking about an online course, membership community, or coaching service that would be\u00a0<em><span class=\"c10\">THE<\/span><\/em><span class=\"c1\">\u00a0thing you\u2019re known for going forward.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c3\"><span class=\"c1\">Something good enough to hang your hat on. The product that could take your business from where it is now to where you want it to be.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c3\"><span class=\"c1\">Most people estimate around 12 months. Which is an insanely long time when you think about it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c3\"><span class=\"c1\">(12 months ago we were all still like ~4 months away from knowing what COVID-19 is. Feels like years ago, right?)<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c3\"><span class=\"c1\">In my experience, most course creators and coaches are actually just 2-3 months away from launching a quality flagship product with the potential to change their business\u2019s trajectory.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c3\"><span class=\"c1\">They just need the right plan.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c3\"><span class=\"c1\">In this post, I\u2019m going to show you the 3-stage plan one of our clients recently used to bring in $36,097 in revenue from a new product launch that only took him ~90ish days to execute.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c3\"><span class=\"c1\">Let\u2019s dive in.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c3\"><strong><span class=\"c12\">The Client:<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"c1\"><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>David Martin<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c3\"><strong><span class=\"c12\">The Product:<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0<span class=\"c4\"><a class=\"c7\" href=\"https:\/\/christiancreative.academy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Christian Creative Academy<\/a><\/span><span class=\"c1\">, a membership site for Christians who want to publish books or create online courses.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c3\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" data-src=\"https:\/\/lh3.googleusercontent.com\/G8gpz3K8S5X-LTFOkaKNWzfr_oMcrXQtIHlBsOd-DWUQV3459msRYB3fBGZh3JerOl7LOJlxI3ribDjxIYyS6xiu5lIbHWeFh0rccyzIQd1Qrsf4aMRoZ8R_UqnB_xRRbQ1nYr5V\" alt=\"\" \/><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/lh3.googleusercontent.com\/G8gpz3K8S5X-LTFOkaKNWzfr_oMcrXQtIHlBsOd-DWUQV3459msRYB3fBGZh3JerOl7LOJlxI3ribDjxIYyS6xiu5lIbHWeFh0rccyzIQd1Qrsf4aMRoZ8R_UqnB_xRRbQ1nYr5V\" alt=\"\" \/><\/noscript><\/p>\n<p class=\"c3\"><span class=\"c1\">David followed a simple, 3-stage plan our coaching team laid out for him that helped him pull this off in a fraction of the time it takes most businesses.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c3\"><strong><span class=\"c5\">Stage #1: Validate Your Product with a Pre-Launch PDF<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"c3\"><span class=\"c1\">Most people spend the majority of those 12 months privately working on their product until it\u2019s ready to be revealed to the world.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c3\"><span class=\"c1\">Not David.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c3\"><span class=\"c1\">Instead, he wrote up an extended description of the product he THOUGHT his audience would want, turned it into a PDF, and emailed it to 100 of his most engaged subscribers with a simple request: give me your feedback on this.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c3\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" data-src=\"https:\/\/lh3.googleusercontent.com\/KgD3MMyT1HnZddYjAeKl5D8DPWAPeAgi2a90zuknU9Hch_A_W97OsN_Vw7alzI5Y_jRP3ik7FodUvpQRfjzRa-_72DBFddGJDAktu45jSiVROpmJIDYfwqN4zgB3o3rCFW6DFNcA\" alt=\"\" \/><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/lh3.googleusercontent.com\/KgD3MMyT1HnZddYjAeKl5D8DPWAPeAgi2a90zuknU9Hch_A_W97OsN_Vw7alzI5Y_jRP3ik7FodUvpQRfjzRa-_72DBFddGJDAktu45jSiVROpmJIDYfwqN4zgB3o3rCFW6DFNcA\" alt=\"\" \/><\/noscript><\/p>\n<p class=\"c3\"><span class=\"c1\">This helped him do 3 things:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol class=\"c2 lst-kix_q7jmjyikcnem-0 start\" start=\"1\">\n<li class=\"c3 c6\"><span class=\"c1\">Figure out exactly what needed to be included in the product BEFORE he built it.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol class=\"c2 lst-kix_q7jmjyikcnem-0\" start=\"2\">\n<li class=\"c3 c6\"><span class=\"c1\">Dial-in his pricing. \u201cInitially, it was just going to be a one-time price like $699, but some of the feedback was that amount at such short notice is quite expensive,\u201d he said. This led him to create a payment plan option that went on to make up the majority of his $36k in launch revenue.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol class=\"c2 lst-kix_q7jmjyikcnem-0\" start=\"3\">\n<li class=\"c3 c6\"><span class=\"c1\">Understand the terminology and wording his ideal customers use to describe their problems and the solutions they\u2019re looking for.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p class=\"c3\"><span class=\"c1\">Those 3 steps alone helped David complete the next stage of his launch in a fraction of the time it typically takes people&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c3\"><strong><span class=\"c5\">Stage #2: Create Your Sales Page and Email Sequence<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"c3\"><span class=\"c1\">You would think the most intimidating part of launching a product would be creating the product itself, right?<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c3\"><span class=\"c1\">Eh, not in my experience.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c3\">For most course creators and coaches, it\u2019s all the stuff you need to do in order to\u00a0<strong><span class=\"c12\">sell the product<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"c1\">\u00a0that causes the biggest problem:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"c2 lst-kix_1zofrso82bcq-0\">\n<li class=\"c3 c6\"><span class=\"c1\">Writing all the email copy for the launch sequence<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"c3 c6\"><span class=\"c1\">Writing copy for a sales page<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"c3 c6\"><span class=\"c1\">Debating whether you should incorporate a webinar, Facebook ads,<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"c3 c6\"><span class=\"c1\">Figuring out pricing, bonuses, etc.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"c3\"><span class=\"c1\">This kind of stuff creates 90% of the fear, stress, and procrastination that keeps people stuck in \u201cplanning mode\u201d for months.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c3\"><span class=\"c1\">Nobody gets into teaching \/ coaching people online because they love writing sales copy. \ud83d\ude42<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c3\"><span class=\"c1\">That\u2019s what makes the steps David took in Stage #1 so valuable.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c3\"><span class=\"c1\">How much easier would it be to write a sales page and email sequence if you knew\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"c2 lst-kix_f7zwd1lbmp5w-0\">\n<li class=\"c3 c6\"><span class=\"c1\">Exactly WHAT your customers want (because they\u2019ve seen a first draft of your offer and given you feedback on it)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"c2 lst-kix_f7zwd1lbmp5w-0\">\n<li class=\"c3 c6\"><span class=\"c1\">WHY they want it<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"c2 lst-kix_f7zwd1lbmp5w-0\">\n<li class=\"c3 c6\"><span class=\"c1\">The WORDS they use to describe why they want it and the problems it solves for them<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"c3\"><span class=\"c1\">This info alone eliminates half the second-guessing that keeps launches from ever happening.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c3\"><span class=\"c1\">All David had to do was take his customer feedback and plug it into the proven launch structure our coaching team provided.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c3\"><span class=\"c1\">And because he didn\u2019t have to stress over all the little marketing details, he had extra time to bake teaching and value into every single email that went into his launch sequence.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c3\"><span class=\"c1\">\u201cThe emails I sent out got a great response from the people who did resonate with them,\u201d he said. \u201cI personally am sick of receiving emails that have no substance to them, so in each one of those we tried to bake in as much value into the actual email communications as we possibly could, aside from all of the \u2018Get this before it\u2019s gone\u2019 stuff.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c3\">David then took that customer feedback and translated it into\u00a0<span class=\"c4\"><a class=\"c7\" href=\"https:\/\/christiancreative.academy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the sales page you can see here.<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c3\"><strong><span class=\"c5\">Stage #3: Sell the Product Before It\u2019s 100% Finished<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"c3\"><span class=\"c1\">Something magical happens when you validate your product idea with actual subscribers in your audience\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c3\"><span class=\"c1\">A significant number of them will be ready to buy it before you\u2019re even done creating it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c3\"><span class=\"c1\">Which means you can get paid WHILE you work on finishing it instead of spending months in the dark, worrying that the energy you\u2019re putting won\u2019t be worth it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c3\"><span class=\"c1\">In David\u2019s case, he was able to generate $36,097 in sales before creating all of the assets for his new membership community\u2014while still delivering massive value by incorporating existing content and live coaching\/interaction.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c3\"><span class=\"c1\">All in the span of around 3 months instead of the usual ~12.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c3\"><span class=\"c1\">\u201cIt is possible to pre-sell something, and you can do so in an ethical way,\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s definitely a good idea to validate something before you build out all of the assets, particularly if it\u2019s a bigger project that will demand a good deal of time and money to realize.
