Comment below if you\u2019re interested.<\/p>\n<p>Simple. Direct. Effective.<\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s break down what\u2019s included in a Power Offer:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><span style=\"color: #18205d;\"><strong>Number of People<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">\u201cI\u2019m looking for three people\u2026\u201d When you\u2019re starting out, you should stick with three to five clients so you can test your idea and refine it before taking on more clients.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><span style=\"color: #18205d;\"><strong>End Goal<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">\u201c&#8230;who want to lose 10 pounds and feel better about themselves.\u201d Notice how the sentence describes a very specific end result. Notice the exact number \u201c10.\u201d This helps your readers form a clear mental picture of what they\u2019ll get and where they\u2019ll be when you\u2019re done working together.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><span style=\"color: #18205d;\"><strong>Timeframe<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">In this example, the result will be delivered \u201cover the next six weeks.\u201d Pick a conservative estimate that leaves enough time for you to deliver your product or service.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><span style=\"color: #18205d;\"><strong>Call-to-Action (CTA)<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">\u201cComment below if you\u2019re interested\u201d tells the reader exactly what to do to take you up on the offer. This will vary depending on where you post your message.<\/p>\n<p>You can adapt your Power Offer for almost <em>any<\/em>\u00a0outreach method. The example above was written with social media\u00a0in mind, but you can modify it for text or email. You just have to change the CTA to work in a one-on-one situation.<\/p>\n<p>For example, instead of \u201cComment below,\u201d you could say \u201cDo you know anyone who might be interested?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s a template\u00a0you can use to create your own Power Offer:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><span style=\"color: #18205d;\"><strong>Public Post (<\/strong><strong>Social Media<\/strong><strong>): <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Hey, I\u2019m looking for [number between 3-5] people who want to [describe specific goal] in [a specific timeframe]. <em>Comment below if you\u2019re interested.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><span style=\"color: #18205d;\"><strong>Personal Message (Text, Email, Direct Message): <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Hey, I\u2019m looking for [number between 3-5] people who want to [describe specific goal] in [a specific timeframe]. <em>Do you know anyone who might be a good fit?<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The main difference between these two messages is the CTA. The second version has a slightly modified CTA that will help you expand your audience. Feel free to <strong>change up the exact wording <\/strong>to match your voice and your relationship with the person you\u2019re messaging.<\/p>\n<p>For example, what you\u2019d send to someone on LinkedIn\u00a0\u2014 who you\u2019ve never met \u2014 will be different than what you\u2019d send to your best friend.<\/p>\n<p>Then, look for any social media\u00a0channels where you have 500+ followers, and post the message on your public wall or profile.<\/p>\n<p>If you have an average circle of friends, family, and acquaintances, your message should be seen by at least 500 to 1000 people. That should bring in five to 10 positive responses (including referrals), which will turn into your first one or two clients if your offer is solid.<\/p>\n<p>Altogether, this entire process should take less than ten hours.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"h.us0or6ghju86\">The Perfect Proposal Method<\/h3>\n<p>The next two methods involve cold email. But wait! One ideal prospect. You\u2019re going to send the world\u2019s best, most personalized cold email, so you have to focus on one person at a time.<\/p>\n<p>If you don\u2019t know who your ideal client\u00a0is, answer these three questions:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Who is doing work you respect?<\/li>\n<li>Who would be fun to work with?<\/li>\n<li>Who could give you additional exposure if you worked for them?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Think about those three questions for a little while. If you haven\u2019t picked someone in two hours, just pick the first person that comes to your head.<\/p>\n<p>Seriously. You\u2019ll have chances to email more people. Don\u2019t agonize over this.<\/p>\n<p>Pick someone? Good.<\/p>\n<p>Now, spend 20 hours crafting a proposal outlining how you can help that person.<\/p>\n<p>This should be the most detailed document you\u2019ve ever put together that explains exactly what you\u2019re going to do for your prospective client.<\/p>\n<p>One of my favorite examples of this was someone who used my own process to pitch me on a service.<\/p>\n<p>A guy named Siggy read my blog and sent me a great email based on my advice. You\u2019ll be talking to a bigger group, but the offer will still <em>feel<\/em>\u00a0personalized if you define your target audience\u00a0correctly.<\/p>\n<p>Start by figuring out what that group of people should look like. In our experience, your first five clients will typically include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Two clients you don\u2019t like working with.<\/li>\n<li>Two clients that are good, but not great.<\/li>\n<li>And one great client that you really enjoyed working with.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For example, if you\u2019re a personal trainer, you could work with:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Two college friends.<\/li>\n<li>A 65-year-old retired female.<\/li>\n<li>A busy 45-year-old business owner.<\/li>\n<li>And a 37-year-old mom of two.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Out of that group, maybe you really liked working with the 37-year-old mom. If so, go look for more people like her. Take her general profile and expand it just enough to apply to anyone who could have the same kind of lifestyle, life experiences, and fitness goals.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re not 100% sure which client to choose, just pick one. This isn\u2019t a life-altering commitment. Just try this ideal client\u00a0profile for 90 days and see how it fits. Then, you strike up a deal with them to create useful content and answer questions\u00a0for their audience for free in exchange for exposure and promotion.<\/p>\n<p>This can mean:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Podcast\u00a0interviews.<\/li>\n<li>Guest posts\u00a0or emails.<\/li>\n<li>Partner webinars, Facebook live sessions, or other video presentations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The best part is that you get to pick the kind of partnership that works best for you.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Great at writing? Try guest blogging.<\/li>\n<li>Feel more comfortable having a voice conversation? Get on a podcast.<\/li>\n<li>Come alive on camera? Do a video presentation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You pick which kind of partnership you\u2019d like to do and then go actively find companies who are already talking to your ideal audience.<\/p>\n<p>For example, Sarah Doody is the creator of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uxportfolioformula.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">UX Portfolio Formula<\/a>, an online course\u00a0for UX designers. It\u2019s not uncommon for someone with experience to average 600-700, so 200 subscribers per webinar\u00a0is realistic if you\u2019re just starting out. Even with that lower subscription number,\u00a0you only need to book five webinars\u00a0in the next year to grow your list from zero to 1000+!<\/p>\n<p>Of course, you do have to do some work to set these partnerships up, but in our experience, it\u2019s realistic to teach\u00a0one new audience per week, consistently. That\u2019s more than enough to bring in a steady stream of new subscribers and customers.<\/p>\n<p>This process works for more than online courses.
