But the other 99%? Those podcasts (I\u2019m talking about the interview-based ones) are ALWAYS looking for content.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c4\"><strong><span class=\"c8 c6\">Diana said it best in our interview: \u201cThey are desperate for content, especially if it\u2019s a weekly podcast.\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"c4\"><span class=\"c0\">Constantly finding and booking guests your audience will be interested in is a massive chore for podcasters. It\u2019s one of the reasons why many people start podcasts and then fizzle out after a few months.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c4\"><span class=\"c0\">When you send them a good pitch, you\u2019re making it easy for them to scratch an annoying task off their to-do list.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"c4\"><span class=\"c14 c6\">How to Pitch a Podcast on Interviewing You<\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"c4\"><span class=\"c0\">Diana keeps her formula for a good podcast interview pitch simple:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"c4\">\u201cI just say, \u2018Hey, my name is Diana, this is what I offer, this is why I think it\u2019s valuable to your audience, and I\u2019d love to come on your podcast.\u2019 Literally it\u2019s that easy for a podcast.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"c4\"><span class=\"c0\">A quality podcast interview pitch contains 3 elements:<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c4\"><strong><span class=\"c8 c6\">1. It gives your target an anchor.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"c4\"><span class=\"c0\">Think of an anchor as a common point of interest between you and the person you\u2019re pitching. It gives them a signal that you\u2019re someone they can trust and not just some random weirdo on the internet.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c4\"><span class=\"c0\">That means you might:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"c5 lst-kix_8m6dloustbdt-0 start\">\n<li class=\"c4 c7\"><span class=\"c0\">Mention a specific episode you liked and how it helped you<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"c4 c7\"><span class=\"c0\">Mention a positive outcome you\u2019ve experienced as a result of a particular episode<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"c4 c7\"><span class=\"c0\">Mention a specific episode you shared with others<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"c4\"><strong><span class=\"c6\">Important:<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"c0\">\u00a0Don\u2019t BS this part. Do your homework and actually listen to the podcast before you pitch the host. If you\u2019re not sincere, it will show.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c4\"><strong><span class=\"c6\">2. It explains the win for them.<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"c0\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c4\"><span class=\"c0\">I can\u2019t stress this enough\u2014tell them specifically why you think their audience would enjoy the interview.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c4\"><span class=\"c0\">And if you have an existing email list or social platform where you can promote the episode you would be on, let them know about it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c4\"><strong><span class=\"c6\">3. It has a clear ask.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"c4\"><span class=\"c0\">Make it easy for the podcaster to give you a clear yes or no answer. Don\u2019t try to schedule the interview in the very first email. Write it in a way that allows you to end the email with the simple question, \u201cAre you interested?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c4\">If you want to see actual examples of podcast interview pitches using the strategies we recommend (it\u2019s simple, but there is a bit of an art to it),\u00a0<span class=\"c1\"><a class=\"c3\" href=\"https:\/\/blog.growthtools.com\/blog\/partnership-marketing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">check out our Partnership Marketing 101 post here.<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"c4\"><span class=\"c6 c14\">How to Find Podcasts with Your Ideal Customers in Their Audience<\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"c4\"><span class=\"c0\">So, how do you actually figure out which podcasts are likely to have your customers in their audience?<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c4\"><span class=\"c0\">First, make sure you\u2019re crystal clear on who your ideal customer is.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c4\"><span class=\"c0\">For example, Diana knows her ideal customer is a senior executive who is going into a career transition.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c4\"><span class=\"c0\">If you know your customer, there is one obvious strategy you can do right away to find podcasts they\u2019re likely listening to:<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c4\"><strong><span class=\"c8 c6\">Google a description of your customer + \u201cpodcasts\u201d.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"c4\"><span class=\"c0\">For example, in Diana\u2019s case that would be search queries like \u201csenior executive podcasts,\u201d \u201cpodcasts for senior executives,\u201d etc. Look what comes up when you Google that:<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c4\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" data-src=\"https:\/\/lh6.googleusercontent.com\/DqtMp7ZyaK1GbgNdj8P6xpdbjXjYVGJDjkVdzUDAl_yGS7APojY4Bkz4KQi0YGO_jdMBhVMOnHX_CwftKkjq_C8gioOPOQ5EMSvkgS3NPmGfAa_KoFmNWRs3rO-pQ7rGir4fH5ge\" alt=\"\" \/><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/lh6.googleusercontent.com\/DqtMp7ZyaK1GbgNdj8P6xpdbjXjYVGJDjkVdzUDAl_yGS7APojY4Bkz4KQi0YGO_jdMBhVMOnHX_CwftKkjq_C8gioOPOQ5EMSvkgS3NPmGfAa_KoFmNWRs3rO-pQ7rGir4fH5ge\" alt=\"\" \/><\/noscript><\/p>\n<p class=\"c4\"><strong><span class=\"c6\">Sidenote:<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"c0\">\u00a0The list style blog posts you see in the search results above are GREAT for this.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c4\"><span class=\"c0\">You can also apply this same approach to the problem(s) your business is aimed at solving. For Diana, one of those is transitioning your career:<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c4\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" data-src=\"https:\/\/lh3.googleusercontent.com\/5IKsRrlEztnRZHJMu-mrjmAX-lAwOA2i-FhdCs42r_6Roa59KphWwvAn7bUEr7LU6GE6SuTosOlKB9wHsaiq4H5QzBXQ_39R55gVT1DxRrMDEEc_tbXVWeWi7wHa7S_G3hB3V6MC\" alt=\"\" \/><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/lh3.googleusercontent.com\/5IKsRrlEztnRZHJMu-mrjmAX-lAwOA2i-FhdCs42r_6Roa59KphWwvAn7bUEr7LU6GE6SuTosOlKB9wHsaiq4H5QzBXQ_39R55gVT1DxRrMDEEc_tbXVWeWi7wHa7S_G3hB3V6MC\" alt=\"\" \/><\/noscript><\/p>\n<p class=\"c4\"><strong><span class=\"c6\">One caveat with this approach:<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"c0\">\u00a0sometimes, you\u2019ll end up finding podcasts tied to businesses that are your direct competitors. In those cases, it might not make sense for them to book you.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c4\"><span class=\"c0\">Those two approaches are just the tip of the iceberg. If you want to discover even more podcasts that can put you in front of your ideal customers, ask yourself the following question:<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c4\"><span class=\"c0\">What are 5-10 causes of the problem my business solves?<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c4\"><span class=\"c0\">In Diana\u2019s case, that would mean asking WHY executives find themselves wanting a career change.
