They know they need to build a website and an email list, but they don\u2019t know how to get started.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c4\"><span class=\"c1\">Over the years, she began to organically attract a second segment of customers\u2014web designers aspiring to carve out a full-time freelance career.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c4\"><span class=\"c1\">However, both of the partnerships we\u2019re going to look at in this case study were designed to attract the first type of best fit customers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c4\"><strong><span class=\"c14\">Type of Partnership:<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"c1\"> Guest Workshop<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c4\"><span class=\"c1\">While the partnerships highlighted in this case study were slightly different in their format, they both fall under the same broad category of guest workshop.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"c10 lst-kix_6kwpupw650g4-0 start\">\n<li class=\"c2 li-bullet-0\"><span class=\"c1\">Shannon identified target partners who already have her ideal customers in their audience (non-techy solopreneurs who need to build a website)<br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"c10 lst-kix_6kwpupw650g4-0\">\n<li class=\"c2 li-bullet-0\"><span class=\"c1\">Both target partners aren\u2019t focused on teaching their customers the more technical aspects of website creation (we call this a \u201ccontent gap\u201d)<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"c2 li-bullet-0\"><span class=\"c1\">This creates a point of friction for those target partners\u2014their customers need websites in order to be successful, but the partners would rather someone else just show them how to do it<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"c2 li-bullet-0\"><span class=\"c1\">That\u2019s where Shannon comes in\u2014she pitched the target partners on giving their audiences a free online training session on website creation<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"c2 li-bullet-0\"><span class=\"c1\">This created a true win-win: each target partner got to help their audience solve a problem (that might have been holding them back from buying), while Shannon got an influx of warm leads who instantly trust her<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"c4\"><span class=\"c1\">Let\u2019s take a look at each partnership so you can understand the finer points around how they came together.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h.fdqha5p4ftli\" class=\"c12\"><span class=\"c14\">Partnership #1:\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"c8 c14\"><a class=\"c11\" href=\"https:\/\/kaysemorris.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kayse Morris<\/a><\/span><span class=\"c6\">, The CEO Teacher Academy<\/span><\/h2>\n<p class=\"c4\"><span class=\"c1\">Kayse Morris helps teachers market and sell their own teaching assets like lesson plans.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c4\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" data-src=\"https:\/\/lh5.googleusercontent.com\/mOCWhBSVFF7SmtNYC8hW3M_oNQJrEqNWA1nGNJ3H1EnKk4NORCL-IUYsYtG8E0J95_kuP3uiSjoGDIhPVdGZpPcy0Ox9pUClNhA4mKgpi1n8OSwfD6i8fKuX_5P9x_deOo9xpBL2\" alt=\"\" \/><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/lh5.googleusercontent.com\/mOCWhBSVFF7SmtNYC8hW3M_oNQJrEqNWA1nGNJ3H1EnKk4NORCL-IUYsYtG8E0J95_kuP3uiSjoGDIhPVdGZpPcy0Ox9pUClNhA4mKgpi1n8OSwfD6i8fKuX_5P9x_deOo9xpBL2\" alt=\"\" \/><\/noscript><\/p>\n<p class=\"c4\"><span class=\"c1\">On the surface, it might seem like that has nothing to do with Shannon\u2019s business. But when you look closer, there\u2019s a clear overlap\u2014almost all of Kayse\u2019s customers need to have an online presence for their businesses. At a certain point, that means they need a website.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c4\"><span class=\"c1\">This was a big enough challenge that some customers were even hesitating to invest in her program out of fear they would get stuck on the tech piece. Kayse\u2019s specialty, however, is NOT the technical, nuts-and-bolts side of creating a website.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c4\"><span class=\"c1\">With that in mind, it\u2019s easy to see why this partnership made perfect sense for both Kayse and Shannon.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c4\"><strong><span class=\"c7\">What Shannon and Kayse\u2019s Guest Workshop Partnership Looked Like:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"c4\"><span class=\"c1\">After realizing a collaboration made sense (more on that in a sec), Shannon and Kayse came up with the idea of a 5-day website challenge training called the Teacher Blog Blast Off:<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c4\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" data-src=\"https:\/\/lh5.googleusercontent.com\/7AxMVoJM6NbAo6IL2sYUGOkD1X-i0RroxuMOXxKTX74h0Np5KIhkuWluWWS-jD2aOhhvBbHM-RPeX2qmlMD0g_2jcD5ilS5MiicEnNd_d3cOeSaVomKzSiB6NGNROKnlDuEmbk9w\" alt=\"\" \/><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/lh5.googleusercontent.com\/7AxMVoJM6NbAo6IL2sYUGOkD1X-i0RroxuMOXxKTX74h0Np5KIhkuWluWWS-jD2aOhhvBbHM-RPeX2qmlMD0g_2jcD5ilS5MiicEnNd_d3cOeSaVomKzSiB6NGNROKnlDuEmbk9w\" alt=\"\" \/><\/noscript><\/p>\n<p class=\"c4\"><span class=\"c1\">The format was simple:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"c10 lst-kix_eaiwgl60eoks-0 start\">\n<li class=\"c2 li-bullet-0\"><span class=\"c1\">It was 5 training sessions over a 5-day period<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"c2 li-bullet-0\"><span class=\"c1\">Each training was done via Facebook Live in Kayse\u2019s Facebook group<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"c2 li-bullet-0\"><span class=\"c1\">Shannon simply showed up, taught a customized version of her existing training, and answered questions<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"c4\"><span class=\"c1\">As Shannon put it:<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c4\"><span class=\"c1\">\u201cTo show up for two hours a day hanging out in someone\u2019s Facebook group might sound like a lot of work to some people, but&#8230;I just had to show up and do what I do. There wasn\u2019t a whole lot of preparation. It was way better than spending that time in my office by myself writing a blog post and hoping people would see it.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c4\"><strong><span class=\"c7\">The Results:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"c4\"><span class=\"c1\">Initially, this partnership got Shannon:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"c10 lst-kix_gum4gyg7af21-0 start\">\n<li class=\"c2 li-bullet-0\"><span class=\"c1\">$6,000 in sales<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"c2 li-bullet-0\"><span class=\"c1\">600 new email subscribers<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"c4\"><strong><span class=\"c7\">But the best part is that the workshop content was set up to be evergreen, which has led to an additional $1,000 per month in sales for Shannon since the initial 5-day training.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"c4\"><span class=\"c1\">\u201cIt\u2019s ongoing, it\u2019s definitely an evergreen thing,\u201d she said. \u201cWe set it up to where I\u2019m consistently bringing in new subscribers and sales from that since we did it last September.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c4\"><span class=\"c1\">So, where have all those sales come from?<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c4\"><span class=\"c1\">During the Teacher Blog Blast Off, Shannon referred attendees back to a full version of her free training since she couldn\u2019t cover every last detail during the Facebook Live sessions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c4\"><span class=\"c1\">This leads to affiliate commissions (via services\/products she recommends in the training), and upsells of her website templates and courses.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c4\"><span class=\"c1\">The cool thing is that leads from this partnership tend to convert SUPER well. And it\u2019s easy to see why\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c4\"><span class=\"c1\">Since Shannon got recommended by someone these leads ALREADY trust (Kayse), it\u2019s basically a no-brainer for them to buy from her.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c4\"><span class=\"c1\">\u201cKayse is basically saying, \u2018This is your girl and you should do what she\u2019s telling you to do,\u2019\u201d Shannon said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c4\"><span class=\"c1\">This instant transference of trust is what makes partnerships such a powerful sales tool.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h.yiggljj9lddt\" class=\"c12\"><span class=\"c6\">Partnership #2: Kathy Goughenour, Expert VA Training<\/span><\/h2>\n<p class=\"c4\"><span class=\"c1\">Shannon\u2019s second recent partnership success came with Kathy Goughenour, who trains people to become virtual assistants.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c4\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" data-src=\"https:\/\/lh3.googleusercontent.com\/u2YJCCzLvdEo-MzYRjF9GYFS6UaJb9lZ_QFCU9Fde0zrHhBgkxIIlt8c5hBKFWG9jSaJPQ1K1S5y3X5d4rokulxFPEgTi8-NeRkwQ1SicrHKrqlix8fOEvW7vsHraggdCoXdlm9Y\" alt=\"\" \/><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/lh3.googleusercontent.com\/u2YJCCzLvdEo-MzYRjF9GYFS6UaJb9lZ_QFCU9Fde0zrHhBgkxIIlt8c5hBKFWG9jSaJPQ1K1S5y3X5d4rokulxFPEgTi8-NeRkwQ1SicrHKrqlix8fOEvW7vsHraggdCoXdlm9Y\" alt=\"\" \/><\/noscript><\/p>\n<p class=\"c4\"><span class=\"c1\">Much like Kayse, many of Kathy\u2019s customers need to create their own website, but she\u2019s not focused on helping them solve that problem.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c4\">So Shannon pitched Kathy on doing a one-hour webinar training for her students.
